AKIPRESS.COM - The meeting of the human rights coordination council was held in the government. Vice Prime Minister Jenish Razakov said more than 20 human rights issues were discussed by the coordination council in 2019.
"The national reports on human rights protection, implementation of international human rights obligations were discussed. The meetings were held with UN Special Rapporteurs. The action plan on human rights for 2019-2021 was approved. The plan was adopted with the purpose to follow recommendations after Kyrgyzstan presented reports on how it meets international conventions on human rights. The Kyrgyz Republic, as signatory to basic international agreements on human rights, will continue improving mechanisms of protection of human rights and freedoms and meeting the international human rights obligations," Jenish Razakov underscored.
Ensuring rights and freedoms is one of the main aims in development of the country, the Vice Prime Minister said.
The coordination council considered the annual work report for 2019 and approved the work plan for 2020.
