AKIPRESS.COM - Around 2,500 concrete blocks were removed from Tashkent streets and sent to Syrdarya region for repair of the Sardobe dam, local media reported with reference to Tashkent mayor Jahongir Artikhojaev.
The mayor said this at the meeting with the organizers of the column of trucks with humanitarian aid bound to Syrdarya region on May 2.
The concrete blocks were transported to Syrdarya on 120 trucks in night time, the mayor said.
The Sardobe dam burst at 5.55 a.m. on May 1 having flooded the houses in the nearby village.
According to official information, the water leakage was stopped at around 5.00 pm on May 1.
Around 70,000 people were evacuated from 22 settlements of Sardobe, Akaltyn and Mirzaabad districts of Syrdarya region.
