AKIPRESS.COM - Over 1,000 houses will be built in Turkestan region for people, whose houses were damaged after Sardoba dam burst in Uzbekistan, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said.
"The government will start construction of more than 1,000 houses in Turkestan region for citizens, who lost their houses in flooding caused by water dam accident in Uzbekistan," President Tokayev said on Twitter.
Each resident in flooded villages will be paid 100,000 tenge ($237).
A new micro-district will be built in Myrzakent, where people from Dostyk, Janaturmys, Jenis villages will be re-settled. Kindergartens and schools will be built there.
People from flooded Orgebas and Ferdousi villages are offered to move to another area, where new houses will be built, or restoration of their houses or compensation for construction and restoration of their houses.
Compensations for lost cattle will be paid from the government's reserve fund. Farmers will receive tax break.
On May 2, the emergency situation was declared in Maktaaral district of Turkestan region. Several villages were flooded after burst of the dam in Uzbekistan.
845 houses and 7,639 ha of sown fields were flooded.
