Kyrgyz Economy Minister meets with ADB mission on Promoting Economic Diversification Program

Bishkek, Apr. 15, 2019. / Kabar /. Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Oleg Pankratov met with the mission of the Asian Development Bank on Promoting Economic Diversification Program economist Laisias Torah.
The press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that within the framework of this program, jointly with the ADB the activities have been identified, after implementation of which Kyrgyzstan is supposed to receive the budget support in the amount of US $ 30 million.
During the meeting, Pankratov noted the positive experience of interaction between the Kyrgyz Republic and the ADB during more than twenty years of cooperation. ADB is one of the main international financial institutions that provides credit, grant and technical assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Laisias Torah said that since the beginning of the program to promote economic diversification, significant work has been done. He also informed that in September of this year, a meeting of the Board of Directors of ADB is planned, at which the implementation of this program will be reviewed.
The minister also noted that the promoting economic diversification program will have the most beneficial effect on strengthening the achieved level of cooperation and will be one of the bases for developing and making optimal decisions on the path of economic development in the country, the main goal of which is the socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, during the meeting, the sides noted that attracting investment, developing and promoting exports, creating conditions for small and medium businesses, developing public-private partnerships and developing the education sector are among the most important areas for reform.
In conclusion, the sides noted the importance of implementing activities under this program on time.
