Kyrgyzstanis celebrate Nooruz holiday in Los Angeles

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstanis from Los Angeles, Colorado, San Diego, San Francisco and Camarillo celebrated Nooruz holiday, said organizers. Preparations began 2 months before the event.
Over 80 people participated in the festive event. Kyrgyz traditional dishes, including sumolok were cooked and served. Compatriots talked to each other, played national games and danced, the statement said.
The next such event is planned for August 31 (Independence of Kyrgyzstan) in Irvine, California, the statement said.
Nooruz is observed on the spring equinox, usually March 21, and marks the beginning of a new year. Sumolok is served on Nooruz; it is made from wheat grass cooked with different products, like flour and oil, for hours or even days.
