AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on April 16.
Merkel welcomed the democratic path of Kyrgyzstan and said Germany is ready to support Kyrgyzstan in that. She said Germany is ready to support Kyrgyzstan's agrarian sector, provide consultations on phytosanitary, food security, quality of agricultural products and green technology. She said Kyrgyzstan has good economic indicators pointing to that 5% growth in the Central Asian nation.
She also hoped that the Kyrgyz-German business forum held in Munich will give a powerful momentum for the development of economic ties.
Jeenbekov, for his part, welcomed the successful financial and technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Germany. He invited German companies to invest in Kyrgyzstan.
"Creation of representation of German economy in Kyrgyzstan and a business council for strategic cooperation would be one of the practical steps. The Kyrgyz-German working group for trade and investment should be transformed into a full-fledged intergovernmental commission for trade-economic cooperation," he noted.
A package of documents was inked following Jeenbekov's two-day trip to Germany. The documents cover such areas as diplomatic relations, economy, industry, agriculture, education, tourism, finance, and trade.
