Sooronbai Jeenbekov meets with Angela Merkel

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov, in the framework of his official visit to Germany, met with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Welcoming Sooronbai Jeenbekov, Angela Merkel outlined that Germany and the European Union were aware of the development path that Kyrgyzstan follows.
"We respect this choice. Development of the well-being of the people is important, and we are ready to assist you in it. You have good economic indicators now. Growth of 5 percent against the background of global trends is not bad," she stressed.
According to her, Germany can provide Kyrgyzstan with advice in phytosanitary sector, ensuring food security, quality of agricultural products and in green technologies.
Sooronbai Jeenbekov praised the successful financial and technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Germany.
"A memorandum of cooperation between our cooperative unions will be signed. We are interested in cooperation in the field of agriculture, breeding, seed farming, and processing," Sooronbai Jeenbekov outlined.
He added that one of the practical steps would be creation of a representative office of the German economy in Kyrgyzstan and a Business Council for Strategic Cooperation.
"I consider it expedient to transform the Kyrgyz-German trade and investment working group into a full-fledged Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation," he said.
At the end of the meeting, Sooronbai Jeenbekov invited Angela Merkel to return an official visit to Kyrgyzstan at any convenient time.
