Treason, terrorism, seizure of power to lead to renunciation of citizenship of Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Justice has published the draft of the constitutional law on renunciation of citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic, which allows citizenship renunciation for treason, terrorism, separatism, for public discussion. The draft law was prepared by the interdepartmental working group comprised of representatives of the Supreme Court, Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry, State National Security Committee, State Registration Service, State Migration Service.
Citizenship will be renounced for act of terrorism, financing of terrorist activities, participation in armed conflicts or hostilities in a foreign state or receiving terrorist training, treason, violent seizure of power, establishment of extremist organization, mercenary activities.
Those committing the above mentioned crimes will stand trial. The court will determine prison term and citizenship renunciation.
The authors of the draft law said provisions of the law do not conflict with the Constitution, national regulations and international norms.
After renunciation of citizenship of Kyrgyzstan, a person will be considered stateless in case of absence of dual nationality.
