Bishkek, Apr. 18, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan proposed Turkey to resume Istanbul-Osh flights, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
This initiative was announced at the fourth meeting of the ministers of transport of the Turkic Council, which was held in Bishkek on Apr 17.
"The issue of opening the Osh-Istanbul flight was discussed with the Turkish side, and the parties found mutual understanding on this issue," the ministry said.
During the talks, Minister of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhanat Beishenov noted that regular flights on the Bishkek-Istanbul route are gaining momentum every year, but there is still a great need to increase flights.
"I would like to ask the Turkish side to resume flights with our southern capital, the city of Osh (a densely populated region of the Fergana Valley) to Istanbul. Moreover, large events under the slogan "Osh is the cultural capital of the Turkic-speaking countries" are taking place today in Osh," said Beishenov.
In addition, he added that today Kyrgyzstan unilaterally announced the introduction of the fifth air freedom regime, which implies the freedom of transit flights through the republic. In this connection, he said that the Ministry is ready to provide all possible assistance to foreign airlines in this direction.
