Bishkek, Apr. 23, 2019. / Kabar /. The number of suicides among teenagers has been decreased in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country reported.
According to data of the Ministry, there is a decrease in suicides among minors by 26.9%. In total 19 facts were registered in 2019 (in 2018 during the same period 26 cases of suicide were recorded). 15 of them are male minors, and 4 are female.
The ministry explained that the causes of committed suicides are a quarrel with parents, illness, unanswered love, insufficient attention from parents and teachers to the problems of children and family relationships that negatively affect the psyche of a minor.
"Suicide among adolescents today is an urgent problem. Sometimes, in order to prevent suicides and save children, it is necessary to take drastic measures," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
In February, in one of the districts of Bishkek, a minor girl was rescued by policemen who jumped out of a window. During the three months of this year, police officers prevented 8 such attempts of suicide by minors.
In addition, work is underway to search for missing children. During the three months of 2019, 70 minors were wanted, 68 of them have already been found and handed over to their parents.
In the course of work on the prevention of juvenile delinquency, the living conditions of children are inspecting. At present, 511 headquarters have been established in the republic, which include teachers, social workers, doctors and employees of the Juvenile Inspectorate.
Police officers together with state organizations have done a lot of work and identified 45 thousand children of labor migrants who live with relatives or friends. The police compiled lists of these children with a description of their age, with whom they live, where their parents are. The collected materials were transferred to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Education and Health, so that they could also monitor the children.
