Minister of Social Development and ambassador of Qatar discuss priority areas of cooperation

Bishkek, Apr. 23, 2019. / Kabar /. Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Kochkorov and Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Sulayti discussed the priority areas for further bilateral cooperation, the press service of the Ministry reported.
During the meeting, Kochkorov informed that in March of this year President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities".
"The Ministry has developed a 3-year plan of priority measures for the implementation of the Convention, and within the framework of the Action Plan, amendments will be made to the regulatory legal acts," said the Minister.
He also said that recently in Sadovoe village, with the help of sponsors, a social town was built for low-income families and asked for support in building houses for those in need in other regions of the country.
The Minister noted that every year graduates of orphanages-boarding schools remain without shelter, they have nowhere to go, since after they come of age, they practically remain on the street. And there are cases when many of them choose the wrong way of life.
"Today there is an acute problem of housing for graduates of orphanages, the construction of a social dormitory would allow them to adapt to society, prepare for independent living," Kochkorov said.
In addition, he announced that there are 17 social inpatient institutions in the Ministry’s system, in which the elderly and people with disabilities live, including children with disabilities. He said that the buildings are very old and require major repairs, and in this regard, he asked to consider the possibility of building new residential premises.
In turn, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the Kyrgyz Republic stressed the readiness to assist in solving the above issues.
