Inflow of foreign direct investments in 2018 makes USD 569.8 mln

The main volume of foreign direct investment (more than 88%) was directed to the enterprises of processing industries, mining, geological exploration, financial intermediation and insurance, as well as information and communication, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.
At the same time, the volume of investments directed to the sphere of information and communications increased by 2.5 times, manufacturing enterprises by 1.4 times, while investments in geological exploration decreased 1.9 times, the sphere of financial intermediation and insurance by 1.5 times, in mining companies by 4.9%.
In the total volume of received foreign direct investment (FDI), the largest share falls on China (43.1% of the total investment received), the Netherlands (7.3%), the UK (4.9%), and Turkey (3.6%). ) and Switzerland (3.4%).
Investments decreased: from China - by 19.0%, Kazakhstan - by 37.2%, and vice versa, increased from Russia - by 24.9%, the Netherlands - by 64.5%, Turkey - by 19.9%, Switzerland - 3.5 times.
The outflow of foreign direct investment in 2018 compared with 2017 decreased by 27.7% and amounted to USD 523.2 million.
The decrease in investment outflow in 2018 was observed at mining enterprises - by 44.0%, geological exploration - by 41.4%, manufacturing industries - by 15.7%, and financial intermediation and insurance - by 4.0%.
In 2018, the Investments Promotion and Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic implemented 9 projects totaling $ 28.2 million.
Among the implemented projects:
- construction of a plant for the production of civilian explosives (USD 10 million)
- opening of the hemodialysis center "Fresenius Medical Care Kyrgyzstan" (USD 10 million)
- construction of a plant for the assembly of washing machines under the Artel brand (USD 1 million)
- construction of a zipline at the ZIL ski base (USD 1 million)
- construction of a plant for the production of travertine (USD 1.2 million)
- the project of the "New Hemodialysis Center" (USD 1 million)
- construction of a plant for the production of plastic windows and doors under the IMZO brand (USD 1 million).
