Photos of two Kyrgyzstanis who fought in French Resistance handed over to State Historical Museum

AKIPRESS.COM - The portraits of two Kyrgyzstanis who were in French Resistance war were handed over to the State Historical Museum, said Culture Ministry on April 24. Regional Director of French Institute for Central Asian Studies Catherine Pujol noted that many Kyrgyzstanis who fought in the alongside French army during the French Resistance married to local women.
Following the meeting, the relatives of Kyrgyz soldiers showed portraits and several photos to French Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Michael Roux and Deputy Culture Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nurjigit Kadyrbekov.
The French Resistance was the collection of French movements that fought against the Nazi German occupation of France and the collaborationist Vichy régime during the Second World War.
