Japanese actress becomes tourism brand ambassador of Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Japanese singer and actress Atsuko Maeda has become tourism brand ambassador of Uzbekistan in Japan. The respective certificate was handed in to the actress by Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan Gairat Fazilov at a ceremony on April 23, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
Atsuko Maeda thanked Uzbek authorities for appointment and promised she will actively popularize history, culture and traditions of Uzbekistan in Japan.
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abduhakimov thanked the actress with her new mission and expressed hope the number of tourists from Japan visiting Uzbekistan will grow. Last year more than 17,000 tourists from Japan visited Uzbekistan.
Atsuko Maeda is known for her work in the Japanese idol group AKB48. She starred in the The Ends of the Earth directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa in Uzbekistan.
