Kyrgyz Ombudsman meets with EU representatives

Bishkek, Apr. 25, 2019/ Kabar /. Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz RepublicTokon Mamytov received EU ambassador, EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian, head of the EU representation in the Kyrgyz Republic Eduard Auer and head of the Cooperation Office, advisor of the EU representation in the Kyrgyz Republic Charlotte Andrien.
During the meeting, the sides considered already implemented, as well as possible in the future joint activities of the Institute of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, the European Union and the EU representation in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
In particular, the sides discussed the priorities of cooperation in the field of the protection of human and civil rights in the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of the new European Union’s support strategy for ombudsman institutions in Central Asia.
Mamytov noted that the effective implementation of human rights in any state is possible if there are independent courts, as well as strict compliance with all laws and relevant international covenants.
"Our joint work should be aimed at protecting the constitutional rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan. People need to be sure that at the Ombudsman’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic they will always be able to get the help and advice they need within the framework of ombudsman’s powers. Legality, justice, openness and predictability - these are the basic principles on which the activities of our employees are based," the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized.
Following the talks, a unanimous decision was made to continue business contacts and cooperation in the field of human rights.
