Jeenbekov attends opening ceremony of Belt and Road Forum in Beijing

Beijing, Apr. 26, 2019 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov took part today in the opening ceremony of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.
The forum is attended by presidents and prime ministers of 37 states. In addition to officials, representatives of 150 countries were invited, and about four thousand journalists were accredited.
Chinese President Xi Jinping officially opened the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
One Belt, One Road is the modern Silk Road, which was initiated by Xi Jinping in 2013 during his visit to Kazakhstan. This initiative combines the following projects: The Silk Road Economic Belt and The Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century.
The first forum was held in Beijing in 2017, then 29 heads of state and government took part in it.
The Kyrgyz President arrived in China on Thursday for a working visit. Except for participation in the forum, he will also participate in the World Horticultural Exhibition - 2019.
On the margins of the forum, Jeenbekov will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Wang Huning, heads of leading Chinese companies intending to develop economic and investment cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, as well as with representatives of academia.
Jeenbekov will also visit the pavilions of Kyrgyzstan and China at the International Exhibition Center. Together with other heads of delegations, he will plant a tree in the square "Oasis of Friendship".
