Bishkek, Apr. 26, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov met with European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the topical issues of the bilateral agenda, including the implementation of judicial and legal reform in the country, the Kyrgyz Government's press service reported.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that cooperation with the EU is one of the main priorities of the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan and expressed gratitude for the assistance rendered in the socio-economic development of the country.
In addition, Razakov noted the role of EU institutions in preparing for the introduction of new Codes and laws in the framework of judicial reform and spoke about its main aspects.
He also noted that active work is underway on the draft new Agreement on extended cooperation and partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the EU, which will also include economic reforms.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister added that the Kyrgyz side is interested in the further development of cooperation in implementing projects on digital transformation, reforming the judicial system and law enforcement agencies.
The EU special representative stressed that the conclusion of a new agreement on enhanced cooperation and partnership will strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He noted with satisfaction the positive changes in strengthening the rule of law in the country, and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in the implementation of regional projects, including digitalization.
Following the meeting, the sides noted the need to further increase joint cooperation on all relevant issues on the bilateral agenda.
