World Book and Copyright Day solemnly celebrated in Bishkek

Bishkek, Apr. 30, 2019. / Kabar /. The World Book and Copyright Day was solemnly celebrated in Bishkek in the Republican Library for Children and Youth.
This year it was held under the motto "Reading a child is a prosperous Kyrgyzstan."
A concert program was organized for all guests and little readers, where the winners of the national contest "The Art of the Book" were presented with valuable prizes and gifts. And for children theatrical performances, games, quizzes and other intellectual activities were organized in the library. In addition, the corner of Steam Caravan was launched, where children had the opportunity to get acquainted with various projects in engineering, physics, art, learn computer programming, computer modeling, etc.
Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, noted, the culture of reading books should fit tightly into the everyday life of everyone; it is very important to promote this among young people and children.
"Thanks to the book, we get, first of all, access to knowledge, ideas, spiritual values, understanding of beauty and creative achievements of a person," he said.
Director of library Rosa Sultangazieva said that this holiday has been celebrating for 10 years.
"The main purpose of the event is to attract children to reading, to literature, to the library. And in order for children to be interested in going to the library not only as a reading center and a center where books are collected, we are working to promote the library so that we can go there as a leisure center. After all, one can not only read in the library today, but also play, meet, talk, make friends," she said speaking about corner of Steam Caravan, where robotics are presented.
Director of USAID mission in the Kyrgyz Republic, Gary Linden, stressed that the book is the best assistant in efforts to protect and enrich the cultural heritage of humanity. And it is very important to promote a love of books in children from childhood.
The book fair and exhibition of handicrafts was organized in frames of the event.
