Russian ambassador hands over copy of Victory Banner to coordinator of Immortal Regiment in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Russian ambassador Nikolai Udovichenko handed over copy of legendary Victory Banner to chairman of Bishkek local council Janybek Abirov and coordinator of the Immortal Regiment in Kyrgyzstan Zulfira Khaibullina on April 30. The Victory Banner will be carried during the Immortal Regiment on May 9. The copies of the Victory Banner were handed over to communities of Kyrgyzstan where the Immortal Regiment will take place.
The Soviet Banner of Victory is the banner raised by the Red Army soldiers on the Reichstag building in Berlin, on May 1, 1945, the day after Adolf Hitler committed suicide. It was raised by three Soviet soldiers: Alexei Berest, Mikhail Yegorov, and Meliton Kantaria, from USSR.
