AKIPRESS.COM - The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Session on Sustainable Tourism Development is held at the ADB Annual Meeting today in Nadi, Fiji.
This session is aimed at establishment of a dialogue on how regional approach to development of sustainable development can accelerate socio-economic development and creation of work places in CAREC region. The session will collect ideas from CAREC countries and development partners on key issues and opportunities in tourism, will discuss a potential role of CAREC Program in tourism development.
The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program is a partnership of 11 countries and development partners working together to promote development through cooperation, leading to accelerated economic growth and poverty reduction.
Since its inception in 2001 and as of September 2018, CAREC has mobilized more than $32.9 billion investments that have helped establish multimodal transportation networks, increased energy trade and security, facilitated free movement of people and freight, and laid the groundwork for economic corridor development.
CAREC countries include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
