AKIPRESS.COM - Eighty people were detained at anti-government protests held on May 1 in Nur-Sultan and Almaty, the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan said.
Protests were also held in Semei, Karaganda, Aktobe.
The Interior Ministry said protesters were allowed to openly voice their position and opinions on social and other issues. However, some protesters in Nur-Sultan and Almaty were aggressive and allegedly shouted slogans of the Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan (known as DVK), which was declared extremist organization in Kazakhstan.
The local authorities and prosecutorial workers explained the regulations on order of peaceful rallies and marches. Some citizens disobeyed the order to stop unlawful actions and were detained to prevent disturbance of public order, the Interior Ministry said.
