AKIPRESS.COM - Leninskiy district court of Bishkek extended the arrest of ex-mayors of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov and Albek Ibraimov for 2 months.
The panel of judges considered the restriction measure for defendants on May 2.
The lawyers asked to change the restriction measure, the prosecutors asked to extend the custodial measure.
The judge extended the arrest and court proceedings for two months.
Ibraimov was detained on July 12, 2018 and is being held at the pre-trial detention facility of the National Security Committee ever since. Ibraimov is suspected of corruption. He is accused of illegal transfer of lands to private individuals and legal entities.
Two probes were launched against Kulmatov: alleged misuse of $2 million grant from Chinese company TBEA meant for the construction of 2 schools in regions (1) and alleged Russian citizenship and illegal obtaining of Kyrgyz passport back in 1996 (2).
