AKIPRESS.COM - The Lake Issyk-Kul is not suitable for motor vehicles, said ecologist, head of "Archa Initiative" private association Dmitri Vetoshkin at the meeting of civil activists to discuss urban planning and environmental problems and their resolutions in Bishkek on May 3.
According to Vetoshkin, organistic remains do not dissolve in the Issyk-Kul lake like in the ocean. The amount of microorganisms in the lake is not enough to process pollutants.
About 80 rivers flow into the lake and nothing is going out of the lake, which means all pollutant flow in, not out, he said.
He also added that waste treatment facilities in Issyk-Kul resorts date back to the Soviet times.
"In addition, the lake is polluted with fuels and lubricants. The lake is not suitable for motor transport, which leave slick for forever," said Vetoshkin.
Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev, a number of heads of state bodies and civil activists participated in the meeting.
