AKIPRESS.COM - Russia and Uzbekistan reached the agreement concerning location of a nuclear power plant that will be built by Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reports. "As for the nuke plant, President Mirziyoyev today expressed satisfaction over progress of the project, said the agreement on location was reached, it is a very important phase in this work," Minister Lavrov told media representatives after the talks with Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov.
He said the consultations will be launched in the nearest time. The project is in progress, Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
The President of Uzbekistan approved the concept of atomic energy sector development for 2019-2029. Its main purpose is construction of a 2.4 GW atomic power plant by 2030. Construction is expected to start in 2022 on the Russian government's loan.
