AKIPRESS.COM - Parliament of Kyrgyzstan addressed animal identification campaign implementation during its plenary session on May 8 that is discussing draft amendments to the law on animal identification in third reading.
Kalysbek Jumakanov, Director of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Security, said that the animal identification in Kyrgyzstan began with dogs.
411,000 dogs were registered, got their ears tattooed, and identified. "New eartags were ordered for identification of dogs. You all know that dogs transmit a lot of diseases," he said. "Every dog must be identified."
MP Bakirdin Subanbekov spoke for killing out the stray dogs and cats, which attack people and transmit diseases.
"25,000 dogs are shot in Kyrgyzstan annually, but it contradicts to the veterinary principles a bit, because veterinaries must treat animals more carefully. Therefore, we're preparing a draft law to be soon submitted to parliament," Jumakanov said.
