Kyrgyzstan does not provide population with domestic meat, but exports abroad

Bishkek, May 8, 2019. / Kabar /. According to statistics, there is a shortage of domestic meat, but at the same time we export it abroad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhanybek Kerimaliev told during the parliamentary session.
However, in his opinion, judging by the number of toi (feast with big amount of meat products) in the country there is enough meat for the population, because there is still many cattle that have not been identified.
"We import only chicken meat from various countries, including China, Belarus and Russia. Red meat is not imported into the country from anywhere. But now agreements have been signed with 5 countries, including the countries of the United Arab Emirates, for the export of our lamb," Kerimaliev explained.
MP Emil Toktoshev asked Kerimaliev why the Kyrgyz Republic sends meat for export if we do not have enough.
Kerimaliev replied that the department can’t indicate to businessmen not to export meat.
