Probe launched against ex-Head of 9th service that provides security for top state officials

AKIPRESS.COM - Criminal probe was launched against Damir Musakeyev, ex-Head of the 9th service of the National Security Committee that provides security for top state officials, the General Prosecutor's Office said on May 8.
According to the statement, "a number of news articles about the wealth of Musakeyev sparked public outcry." The General Prosecutor's Office said that those articles "provide specific names and addresses of real estate, which Musakeyev has allegedly acquired during his tenure as deputy chairman and chairman of the 9th service and registered them under his close relatives' names to hide his illegal wealth."
The state registration service, according to the statement, confirmed that majority of the wealth was gained by him in 2010-2017 and registered under his parents and cousin's name. The total cost of the property is estimated at more than 20 million soms, the statement said, which is "much more than he formally earned in 2010-2017."
