Bishkek to host conference dedicated to 110th anniversary of cardiac surgeon Isa Akhunbaev

Bishkek, May 14, 2019. /Kabar/. An International Scientific-Practical conference dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the famous cardiac surgeon and academician of Kyrgyzstan Isa Akhunbaev, the 60th anniversary of the first heart operation in Central Asia and the 15th anniversary of the foundation of the Scientific Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Transplantation of Organs will be held in Bishkek on May 15 - 19, Deputy Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Madamin Karataev told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
Luminary of Kyrgyz medicine, academician Isa Akhunbaev performed a heart operation for the first time in Central Asia on May 19, 1959.
Scientists, doctors and professors from Russia, Germany, Israel, China, Kazakhstan and other countries will take part in the conference.
"The main goal of the conference is to tell once more about the situation in cardiac surgery, to improve the situation and the best innovations in Kyrgyzstan. Also at the event the participants will discuss problems in the field of transplantology," he said.
Jamalbek Ashimov, the Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Transplantation of Organs noted that the event is divided into four parts.
"The first is master classes and practical operations with training. The process will be broadcast online for conference participants," he said.
Ashimov said that general seminars and lectures for specialists will be held in the second part.
"The third part assumes seminars for narrow specialists. We plan to hold a bike ride on Issyk-Kul and lay flowers at Isa Akhunbaev monument in the fourth part," he added.
Ashimov stressed that all events will be held under the auspices of the 110th anniversary of Isa Akhunbaev.
Daughter of the famous academician Isa Akhunbaev, Professor Nelli Akhunbaeva, drew attention to the fact that a conference of such scale is being held for the first time in Kyrgyzstan. She noted her father’s contribution to domestic medicine and added that Isa Akhunbaev created a school and trained an army of surgeons.
"I can be proud to be involved in cardiac surgery too. I am the first and only woman in Kyrgyzstan who operated on the heart," she said.
Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Khakim Bebezov, said that Isa Akhunbaev performed almost all the first surgical operations in Kyrgyzstan.
