Profit of commercial banks of Kyrgyzstan increased by 38% in 2018

Bishkek, May 14, 2019. / Kabar /. At the end of 2018, the profit of commercial banks of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 3.3 billion soms, which is 38% more than the level achieved a year earlier, the National Statistics Committee reported referring to data of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In total, in the financial sector of Kyrgyzstan, 25 commercial banks carry out their activities, 18 of which are with the participation of foreign capital. Their activity is considered profitable, that according to the last year results out of the total number of operating banks, 21 made a profit, 4 ended the year with losses. Optima Bank OJSC, FINCA Bank CJSC, Demir Kyrgyz International Bank CJSC, Ayil Bank OJSC were the leaders in terms of the received profit.
It is also known that today, in addition to the existing 25 banks, 3 banks are in the process of liquidation (OJSC AsiaUniversalBank, CJSC Manas Bank, OJSC Investbank Issyk-Kul) and another two banks have revoked their licenses to operate.
In the regional context, the banking sector is represented by 333 branches throughout the country, which employ 15.8 thousand people. By the end of 2018, the number of customers of commercial banks amounted to 3.5 million, including 3.3 million of which are deposit accounts of individuals. By the beginning of this year, the volume of household deposits in commercial banks was 75.5 billion soms. The share of deposits in national currency - 61%, in foreign currency - 39%.
