AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz Interior Ministry confirmed detention of ex-Minister of Health Dinara Saginbayeva as part of the probe into illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev.
According to the statement, Ms Saginbayeva was detained on complicity in corruption charges, as well as complicity to forgery of documents.
In addition, ex-Advisor to the Chairman of the State Penitentiary Service was also detained.
Sources told AKIpress that the ex-Advisor is Kalybek Kachkynaliyev.
Investigation is under way, the statement said.
Batukayev was sentenced to 16.8 years in prison on August 3, 2006. He was prematurely was released from prison in 2013 because of the leukemia diagnosis, which turned out to be fake. Soon after he fled the country, he was declared internationally wanted.
