Bishkek, May 16, 2019. /Kabar/. Ala-Archa State Residence hosts the "Book and Reading in the Digital Age" International Conference in Bishkek.
The conference is held within the framework of the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the Country announced by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and the Year of the Book announced in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and timed to the 85th anniversary of the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Alykul Osmonov.
The National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Alykul Osmonov, the Russian Committee of UNESCO "Information for All" Program, the Interregional Library Cooperation Center (Moscow) and the Association of Public Libraries of the Kyrgyz Republic are organizers of the conference.
The purpose of the conference is to raise and strengthen in public awareness the importance and urgency of the problem of support and development of reading, including children's and youth reading, in the CIS member states in the context of universal digitalization, as an objective reality, as well as to attract the attention of regional authorities and the media to the need for science-based solutions to problems in the field of promotion and support of reading.
Directors of the largest national libraries of the CIS countries from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, heads of ministries and departments of the republic, heads of embassies and international organizations accredited in Bishkek, more than 150 scientists, specialists of research and educational institutions of the country take part in the Conference.
