Bishkek, May 19, 2019. /Kabar/. The international hand-to-hand combat tournament among the athletes of security and law-enforcement bodies of Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, ended in Bishkek on May 18.
The press service of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that 108 athletes took part in the tournament.
"Hand-to-hand combat is quite a tough sport, but it fosters the readiness of the soldiers to meet the enemy face to face at any second. Hand-to-hand combat hardens the spirit of a fighter and gives an understanding that even under unequal conditions, spirit, not physical strength brings victory," Ularbek Sharsheyev, Chairman of the State Border Service said at the tournament closing.
According to the results of the competition, the team of the State Border Service, which took the 1st place, was recognized as the best in the team event. The second place was awarded to the State Security Service of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security team. The team of the Military Institute of Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Hero of the Soviet Union Lieutenant-General Kalyinur Usenbekov took the third place.
Winners of the qualifying tournament will take part in the World Championship, which will be held from May 30 to June 2 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and later, in July, in the Asian Championship.
