Kyrgyz Minister of Health meets with Director General of WHO

Bishkek, May 23, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Kosmosbek Cholponbayev met with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health reported that the meeting was held as part of Cholponbayev's participation in the 72nd session of the WHO in Geneva.
During the meeting, the minister spoke about the situation with regard to the ongoing health reforms in Kyrgyzstan. The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic approved the "Healthy person - prosperous country" program for 2019-2030, the implementation of which began in 2019, as well as joined the Universal Health Coverage -2030 (UHC-2030) Global Compact. Additional technical assistance in the area of strengthening the health care system, especially in pharmaceutical regulations was also discussed.
Cholponbayev expressed gratitude to the WHO for its continued support to Kyrgyzstan in promoting public health.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus congratulated the Kyrgyz minister of health on the successful completion of the Den Sooluk state program of health care reform for 2012-2018 and the beginning of the Healthy person - a prosperous country new health care program for 2019-2030, he also noted that all ongoing reforms and activities in the field of health care in the Kyrgyz Republic comply well with the plans and objectives of WHO, and is always ready to support the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
