Bishkek, May 24, 2019. /Kabar/. The population’s involvement in sports makes today 16% in Kyrgyzstan, Kanatbek Arpachiyev, the Deputy Director of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said that the Sports Kyrgyzstan Program aims to increase the level of mass physical activity and sports of the population to 25% by 2022. "The goals of Programme also are to increase the level of public involvement in national sports, creation of conditions for special categories of citizens and expanding their involvement in physical activity," Arpachiyev said.
He also named a list of major sporting events which will be held in Kyrgyzstan.
Kanatbek Arpachiyev said that holding of five Asian Championships is planned this year on the basis of the calendar plan of the main republican and international competitions for 2019. Two Central Asian Championships on Olympic Sports will take place: a triathlon sprint distance (June 29-30, 2019) and volleyball (July 15-21, 2019).
"In non-Olympic sports, holding of Asian Armwrestling Championship is planned on June 6-12, 2019, the Taekwon-Do ITF Open Championship and Taekwon-Do Asian Cup on June 24-30, 2019 and the Asia Open Championship in hand-to-hand combat on July 5-7, 2019," Arpachiyev said.
"The Games are held for the purpose of further development and improvement of health, physical culture and mass work, strengthening friendship between peoples and sports organizations. In addition, there will be a marathon with the participation of persons with disabilities on June 1, 2019 in Talas Oblast," deputy director added.
Representatives of the Agency added that at this time they look for a land plot for the construction of a new stadium with an area at least 25 hectares.
The value of a new stadium is about $ 60 million.
