Nur-Sultan, May 29, 2019. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov proposed to create a body to regulate the common electricity market at extended meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC).
The Kyrgyz leader drew attention to a pressing issue related to the significant gap between the economies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states.
"The trend of maintaining the gap between the countries of the Union may adversely affect the development of the Eurasian integration as a whole. We need to find consensus on strengthening economies and ensuring their harmonious development and rapprochement. I suggest that the Commission should be tasked with analyzing the various mechanisms of support and development of countries with small economies and to prepare concrete proposals for the introduction of such a mechanism in our Union," Jeenbekov said.
"The emergence of new areas of regulation requires effective management and, accordingly, the creation of new bodies of the Union. I propose to consider the expediency of establishing a body for regulation of the common electricity market. Taking into account its electrical capacity, the Kyrgyz Republic is ready to host such a body," he said.
