AKIPRESS.COM - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said he hoped Russia and Uzbekistan would be able to boost trade to $10 billion before long.
"The positive dynamics persists this year as well. Trade has grown by 10 percent. This is why we have set an ambitious task of bringing the volume of trade to $10 billion. I am confident that this can be done within the short term, if we address this head-on," Medvedev said at a meeting of the joint commission at the level of the prime ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan.
Medvedev said trade between Russia and Uzbekistan reached $4 billion in 2018, one of the highest figures in Russian trade with other CIS countries. Trade between Russia and Uzbekistan has already grown 10% in 2019, he said.
