Jalal-Abad, June 4, 2019. /Kabar/. The construction of North-South alternative road will be completed by 2023, Kubatbek Boronov, the First Deputy Prime Minister told journalists within the framework of his two-day working visit to Jalal-Abad Oblast.
He noted that the project is being postponed a bit because of the problems that have arisen and the construction of the tunnel, the construction progress is behind schedule.
Boronov added that more than half of the road construction work has been completed. Currently the tunnel is under active construction and has already been completed by 65%.
"The lag is 35%, but the tunnel will be fully commissioned by 2021. The length of the tunnel is 3900 meters. Its height is 8 meters, while tunnel in the Too-Ashuu is 6 meters. This will make possible to cross the tunnel without any problems. There will also be space for special emergency vehicles to enter, which will be able to carry out repair work," Boronov explained.
The first deputy prime minister stated that the tunnel is being built in accordance with the requirements of the time.
The total length of the alternative road is 443 km. The project is divided into three phases. The first two phases are being implemented by the financial support of Chinese Eximbank. The China Road company is the contractor.
The amount for the two phases of the project is about USD 700 million.
