Bishkek, June 4, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev took part in ceremony of handing over excavators and bulldozers to 30 water users associations of Kyrgyzstan.
The special equipment has been purchased for grant funds of the Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Improvement project with the support of the World Bank.
"Today is remarkable event - 30 water user associations are receiving special equipment that will improve the operation of irrigation facilities on the ground. As part of the state program, adopted in 2017 by Sooronbay Jeenbekov, 44 irrigation facilities will be built for KGS 58.8 billion. The second stage of the program will be completed by 2023 and 32 irrigation facilities will be put into operation. All these measures will reduce the level of migration in rural areas, create better conditions for the development of the agricultural sector and will have a positive impact on the entire agricultural sector. Implementation of the state program will provide the population with clean drinking and irrigation water," Abylgaziev said, adding that KGS 300 million were allocated from the national budget in 2019 for the development of irrigation and another USD 9.4 million in investments are planned to route.
The prime minister expressed his gratitude to Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the Head of the World Bank Office in the Kyrgyz Republic for supporting the initiatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The total value of the acquired special equipment amounted to KGS 65 million 352 thousand.
