AKIPRESS.COM - The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) in partnership with the Middle East investors and with the support of the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities said $87 million will be invested in modernization of infrastructure of Baikonur Cosmodrome, sputniknews.kz reported.
"The documents were signed on Thursday on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019," the RDIF reported.
Reports on this deal were voiced by RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriyev during the meeting of President of Russia Vladimir Putin with RDIF international expert council.
The project will reportedly include modernization of the launch site #1 (Gagarin's Start) and its further exploitation for the launch of a Soyuz-2 rocket.
"Modernization of Baikonur Cosmodrome will make a great contribution to development of a space sector increasing a number of launches and attracting new consumers of such services in future," Dmitriyev said.
