Chinese Library opened in Bishkek

Bishkek, June 10, 2019. / Kabar /. A solemn opening ceremony of the Chinese Library took place at Bishkek Humanities University (BHU) on the eve of the state visit of President Xi Jinping to Kyrgyzstan.
The Chinese Library is a brand project that introduces the outside world and promotes cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. Currently 19 such pavilions are open worldwide.
Wang Xiaohui, executive deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made a welcoming speech at the event. In his speech, he noted that BHU, as one of the leading universities in the education system of Kyrgyzstan, has long supported the work of the Confucius initiative, making special efforts to achieve success in the field of humanities.
"Based on the deep humanitarian experience and the open concept of BHU, the press office of the State Council of China in cooperation with them built the project of the Chinese Library, which is the largest library in the world," said Mr. Xiaohui. - It provides more than 2 thousand high-quality books, audio books, cartoons about the Chinese economy, politics, culture and society. In addition, digital resources provide ample opportunities for a comprehensive understanding and perception of the Chinese people, providing an advanced platform for scientific and cultural exchange. "
Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulmira Kudaiberdieva said that it is very important to expand cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries, to strengthen channels of more active and close acquaintance with each other. "I would like to outline the activities of the Confucius Institute, which has been successfully operating in the Kyrgyz Republic for more than 10 years and at sites that are being done a lot to popularize the promotion of Chinese culture and history in the Kyrgyz Republic."
The minister added that this pavilion will promote cultural exchange between the two states, since the project has a rich history and is located in well-known universities of the world.
A ceremony of signing a memorandum of understanding between the press office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and Bishkek Humanities University took place at the end of the solemn event.
The festival was accompanied by an exhibition of the image of youth in the context of "One Belt, One Road", "The Exhibition of Beijing Images", a performance presented by the Beijing Association of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
"Chinese Library is equipped with over 8 thousand books in Chinese, English, Russian and Kyrgyz and over 80 thousand digital resources, such as e-books, magazines, newspapers and illustrations.
