AKIPRESS.COM - Altynbek Namazaliyev was appointed as the new governor of Chuy region.
Namazaliyev has replaced Tuigunaly Abdraimov, who was sacked on June 10 by the Prime Minister after the scandal with journalists in Orok village, where a mass fight between the young men occurred.
On June 5, Abdraimov refused to answer questions of journalists about the conflict that erupted early on June 5 in Orok village in Chuy region "because he did not like the journalist's face." In the video footage, he is seen laughing and walking away from journalists.
38-year-old Namazaliyev is former head of Alamedin district of Chuy region.
From 2014, he worked as deputy prosecutor of the Chuy district, and later became deputy prosecutor of the Jayil district. He also served as investigator for especially important matters of the Bishkek prosecutor's office.
On 16 December 2016, he was sacked as acting prosecutor of Jayil following the scandal with the traders at the Asia-2 market outside Bishkek, but official reason for dismissal was "lack of prosecutor's oversight over the Jayil police department."
His brother, Azamat Namazaliyev, is the head of the tax service of the Lenin district of Bishkek.
