According to her data, 68% of poor people live in rural areas.
"35,000 people live in extreme poverty. The highest poverty rate is recorded in Osh city - 35.5%, then in Batken Oblast - 33.8%, in Jalal-Abad Oblast - 32.2%, in Naryn Oblast - 30.6%, Issyk-Kul Oblast - 21.5%, in Talas Oblast - 22.1%, in Chui Oblast - 15.6%, in Bishkek - 15.5%," Samokhleb said.
She also noted that 28.3 per cent of children under the age of 17 lived in poor households in 2018. "The main factor affecting the welfare of the population is the growth of income.
