957 people prosecuted in Kazakhstan for participation in protests — General Prosecutor's Office

AKIPRESS.COM - 957 people were administratively punished for participation in illegal actions by court, Chief of the Public Interest Protection Service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan Saparbek Nurpeisov told a briefing today, Zakon.kz reports.
According to him, 670 of them were arrested, 115 - fined, 172 - warned.
Some 311 of them have their arrest period shortened. Another 63 will be released today, Nurpeisov noted.
He reminded that the General Prosecutor's Office has repeatedly warned of organizing unlawful protests. The law enforcement officers had to use administrative measures against violators.
"Police were attacked. As a result, 3 police officers were injured. However, police did not use any weapons and conducted explanatory works," he said.
According to the Interior Ministry, protesters were suggesting and discussing the possibility of using new provocations from organizing traffic jams and collaps to direct confrontation with law enforcement officers.
Within 2 days, about 700 people were detained. Some of them were transported to other regions.
