Bishkek, June 14, 2019. / Kabar /. The meeting of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has begun in a narrow format.
The event traditionally began with a co-photography and a handshake ceremony. Then the leaders went to the meeting room for a narrow format meeting.
Further the summit will continue in a wide format.
Following the summit, 20 cooperation documents are expected to be signed, including the Bishkek Declaration and other cooperation documents in various fields.
The SCO consists of 8 countries: India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Four countries have observer status: Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia.
All the countries’ leaders, in particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakhstan Kassym-Joomart Tokayev, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon, Iran Hasan Rouhani, Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, as well as Presidents of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Afghanistan Ashraf Gani Ahmadzai, have already arrived in Bishkek.
Note that this year Kyrgyzstan chairs in the SCO.
