Bishkek, June 14, 2019. / Kabar /. The next meeting of the heads of state of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today speaking at the SCO Summit in Bishkek.
The Russian leader invited his colleagues to Russia for the next meeting of the SCO, which will be held on July 22-23, 2020.
He also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its successful chairmanship in the SCO and thanked for the warm welcome and the excellent organization of the summit.
"The Russian chairmanship will ensure continuity in the work of the Organization," Putin said.
The chairmanship in the SCO in 2020 moves to Russia.
The SCO members are 8 countries: India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Four countries have observer status: Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia.
The summit is attended by presidents of Kyrgyzstan - Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Russia - Vladimir Putin, Kazakhstan - Kassym-Joomart Tokayev, Uzbekistan - Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan - Emomali Rahmon, Iran - Hassan Rouhani, Chairman of China Xi Jinping, Prime Ministers of India - Narendra Modi and Pakistan - Imran Khan. Presidents of the Republic of Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, Mongolia - Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Afghanistan - Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai are present as observers. From international organizations - Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Acting Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the EEC Board Tigran Sargsyan.
