Bishkek, June 17, 2019. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with Munich International Airport delegation headed by Managing Director Ralph Gaffal.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of airport infrastructure development and air transportation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Government reported.
Abylgaziev said that the expansion of transport logistics of the republic and achievement of goals to increase the volume of passenger traffic and cargo transportation, as well as ensuring flight safety are priority areas of work in aviation development.
He also noted that the Government, together with international financial institutions, is actively working to launch a project of public-private partnership for the development and modernization of airports of Manas International Airport OJSC.
Ralf Gaffal emphasized that Munich International Airport is interested in joint implementation of projects on development of Manas Airport infrastructure with parallel promotion of positive image of the Kyrgyz Republic in the international arena.
He added that Kyrgyzstan has a huge potential for tourism and business development due to its geographical location and the existing of Manas airports infrastructure.
In the course of the meeting the sides reached an agreement to intensify the talks and find the optimal directions of cooperation between Manas International Airport OJSC and Munich International Airport in order to make the airport a powerful air transport hub in the Central Asian region.
Munich International Airport is the second largest airport in Germany after Frankfurt am Main in terms of number of passengers served and the seventh busiest airport in Europe.
The airport operates flights to the largest number of destinations in the world - 264 destinations and is the base for the Lufthansa German national company.
