Bishkek, June 17, 2019. /Kabar/. In Osh the Japanese government handed over to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan medical equipment to save newborns’ lives.
According to the press service of the ministry, equipment will be distributed over maternity hospitals and departments of regional hospitals of Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh Oblasts and Osh city.
The life-saving equipment for the total amount of $850,000 is being provided under the Strengthening maternal and child health care project financially supported by the Government of Japan.
Kosmosbek Cholponbayev, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic said that neonatal mortality has been declining in recent years, as confirmed by UNICEF research, and this is a joint achievement of the health system and partners.
"The Ministry of Health focuses on improving perinatal care to save the lives of our small patients. Investing in a child's future is a contribution to the development of the future generation and a prosperous country," the minister added.
He also thanked the Government of Japan represented by Ambassador Yoshihiro Yamamura in Kyrgyzstan and UNICEF Representative Yukie Mokuo for their efforts and support in saving children.
