AKIPRESS.COM - More than 300 law enforcement officers received injuries during the demonstrations in Almaty and Nur-Sultan cities after the snap presidential election of Kazakhstan, the Interior Ministry said. Police officers were wounded on June 9-12 while suppressing unlawful protests.
"Demonstrations were held in a number of regions and aimed at destabilization of public order in the country," the Ministry says.
Among those wounded is a SWAT team member, who burned his both eyes as a result of using pepper spray by protesters, the statement reads.
The Ministry underlined that the law enforcement officers will continue taking all measures to suppress violations of public order and ensure security and peace of the citizens.
