President Jeenbekov receives pilot-cosmonaut Sharipov

Bishkek, June 18, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on June 18 received Salizhan Sharipov, the pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Kyrgyz leader warmly welcomed Sharipov, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to visit Osh Oblast, his small homeland, the President’s press service reported.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan is always ready to welcome its famous compatriot who conquered space.
Sharipov expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and noted readiness to cooperate fully to the comprehensive development of Kyrgyzstan.
Salizhan Sharipov is a Kyrgyzstani cosmonaut. Sharipov is a co-author and investigator for the Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound in Microgravity project. He has been to space twice (launched from the U.S. as an astronaut in 1998 and from Russia as a cosmonaut in 2004) and has conducted two spacewalks. Sharipov retired on 18 July 2008.
