Social and economic development issues of regions discussed at Government’s meeting

Bishkek, June 20, 2019. /Kabar/. Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Zamirbek Askarov held online conference meetings with Governors of Issyk-Kul, Jalal-Abad, Naryn, Talas, Osh and Batken Oblasts and Osh city’s leadership, the Government’s press service reported.
The Governors informed about the ongoing work on the implementation of the Decree of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov "On Declaring 2019 as the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the Country" and the existing problems on the development of the regions. They also focused on the analysis of replenishment of the current year's budget revenues and solution of social problems of the population.
Askarov noted that in order to solve a number of social problems of the population there is need, first of all, to ensure the stable development of the regions, launch of new enterprises, creation of new jobs, and also demanded from the local authorities to implement a full range of measures aimed at social and economic development of the regions.
"Along with positive trends in regional development, there are also negative factors that require special attention of local authorities. These are the industrial indicators, the issues of attracting investments into the regional economy, the launch of idle enterprises. Heads of local authorities and relevant territorial structures of state bodies need to intensify their work in these areas. Regions heads should not take the position of observers, as they bear personal responsibility for the development and welfare of their territories," he stressed.
Following the results of the meeting, the relevant public authorities were instructed to intensify the work to ensure the execution of the budget revenues, as well as to make proposals to improve the social and economic situation in the regions in the first 6 months of 2019.
